Adelaide Hills, South Australia; A$40
This wine went through a few phases before finally opening and showing it's true colours.. first up it looked good, nice and balanced and as you would expect not hugely expressive. After being open for about 10 hours it went a bit funny.. had a metallic edge to it and some awkward tart tannins... banged it into the decanter for another 4-5 hours and this is the note:
Smells of fresh redcurrants and blueberries, a bit of cinnamon stick and a slight menthol-like edge. Medium to full bodied it delivers a fine balance of red and blue fruit at the front then leading to a savoury and spicy finish. Elegant and smooth throughout with super fine tannins.
